Into the World

Prayers Action: Option 1

âžœAction: placing small paper or material hearts (see Book 1, p.47) on a large central heart.

Place a large paper or fabric heart in the centre of the circle.

Jesus loves everyone with a wonderful love.

When we pray, we can be part of

bringing Jesus’ wonderful love to people.

Invite one or more children to bring round a basket of your hearts.

Name and Name are going to bring round some hearts now.

If you like, you can take one.

Let’s ask God to see these hearts as a prayer for a special person.

Hum the tune together, with the words ‘Jesus, hear our prayer!’ as a refrain, until all the children and adults who wish to take a heart have done so.

When we pray for other people,

the love we show can become part of Jesus’ wonderful love.

Let’s add our heart prayers to Jesus’ big heart.

Hum the tune together again while the group place their hearts. Larger groups may like to invite two children to carry the large heart around the circle to collect the children’s hearts. This large heart can then be placed in the centre of the circle.

End this time of prayer with the final verse of the Prayer Song you’ve chosen.

Prayers Action: Option 2

âžœAction: placing paper, fabric, wooden or real flowers in a ‘garden’ (see Book 1, p.47).

Show the children flowers in one or more baskets or trays.

Name and Name are going to bring round these baskets of flowers.

If you like, you can take a flower.

Let’s ask God to see these flowers as a prayer for a special person.

Hum the tune together, with the words ‘Jesus, hear our prayer!’ as a refrain, until all the children and adults who wish to take a flower have done so.

Place your ‘garden’ in the centre of the circle.

If you like, you can place your flower in our garden as a prayer.

As we pray, let’s watch beautiful things

growing in our garden and in our lives.

Hum the tune together again while the group place their flowers. Larger groups may like to invite two children to carry the ‘garden’ around the circle to collect the children’s flowers. This garden can then be placed in the centre of the circle.

End this time of prayer with the final verse of the Prayer Song you’ve chosen.

Prayers Action: Option 2

âžœAction: placing candles (battery tealights) on a world map or piece of fabric.

Show the children the lit battery tealights in one or more baskets or trays.

In a moment, Name and Name

are going to bring around these candles.

If you like, you could take one

and hold it gently in your hands like this.

Model to the children holding their tealight.

Imagine Jesus’ love shining on you

and on a special person you’re praying for.

Hum the tune together, with the words ‘Jesus, hear our prayer!’ as a refrain, until all the children and adults who wish to take tealights have done so.

Lay your fabric or map in the centre of the circle.

Jesus’ love is like a beautiful light shining,

like these candles.

Our prayers can be part of sharing Jesus’ light and love

with everyone around us.

As we sing, let’s give our candles to God

and ask God to hear them as a prayer.

Hum the tune together, with the words ‘Jesus, hear our prayer!’ as a refrain, until all the children and adults who wish to place their tealights have done so. Some groups may like to invite two children to go around the circle in opposite directions with trays to collect the candles. These trays can then be placed in the centre of the circle.

End this time of prayer with the final verse of the Prayer Song you’ve chosen.
